Z Enthusiast John Beck and mechanic John Coffey travel to Riverside, California to unearth an ultra-rare Silver 240z built in 1969 that has been sitting in a horse trailer for the past 7 years.

Kinja'd!!!

This is one of the first 500 240Zs for the US market. It's one of the rare 240Zs built in 1969. Nissan was ramping up production in October, November, and December 1969. Only about 500 of these 1969 built US models made it to the US.

It would be really interesting to know the Vin number. There's a few missing spots in the 1969 vins so it could be a really early car, one of the first 100 in the country.

It sucks he's going to restore it.

It seems like it is in pretty good shape cosmetically. I think I would do a sympathetic mechanical restoration and stop there.

I would personally want it to look like new again, but that's just my opinion.

Is that dust or patina on it? I can't tell.

It's totally his choice, and I respect that. He can do whatever he wants with his car.

If it were me, and I really wanted a perfect restored one, I'd find a different one to do the resto on. You can't un-restore it, and this one seems really good as it is.

It's very obvious (and generally frowned upon) if you bump your own article on Oppo.

I'm with you on this one. Survivor cars are so much more appealing to me. Especially when it is rare and in great shape.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Restore it mechanically and just clean the rest of it...leave a classic a classic.

Rims are not stock. I think they are from the 280z. I wish I could have seen the mileage.

Well, it's not like it's original 1969 patina.

It's been parked for "only" 8 or 9 years according to the video. Those tires are relatively modern, and while I'm not a Z expert, I don't think those are 240Z wheels. They're original Nissan Z wheels, but I think from something a little newer like a 280ZX.

My point being that it's not so much of an "all-original survivor" that a thorough restoration would detract from anything. Leaving it as-is would really only leave it in the condition it was in the early 2000s.

If it was parked in the '70s or even '80s, I'd be more likely to agree with you.

I guess it depends how much has been done. To me it's not how long it's been sitting, it's how original the bones are.

The wheels are an easy fix to put right if you want. You can do a few things without restoring it, and losing the originality. If it's been painted and had the interior swapped, that's different. It's not really all that original in that case.

Agreed. So sick of every damn original car being "restored" to a condition they were never even built in.

Let originals be original.

I misread that headline and was trying to figure out what a 240 ounce horse was.

I know I've seen it reposted at least 4 times already. It's starting to get annoying.

Because the poster wants to keep bumping and repromoting his video (which he probably thinks is the coolest shit in the world) in hopes of getting more clicks. It's not working, because he doesn't realize that it's not how many times, or when you post content, but how good it is. By writing this post as basically an advertisement, he turned most people off from enjoying it.

I'm going to laugh when someone undo's your repost to Oppo.
